This section describes recording instructions for audio only §8 tests and combined audio and video §9 tests.

Camera requirements

  • Audio and video shall be captured jointly.
    • Video recording shall be set to around 120fps and 1080p Full HD.
    • Audio recording shall be set to 48kHz and 16-bit.
  • Video capture instructions should be followed carefully (see How-to-take-clear-recordings).
  • Audio capture instructions should be followed carefully which is presented below.

How to take clear audio recordings

  • Wired audio recording shall be used.
  • With non-wired recording it is difficult to meet the WAVE test requirements: test environment noise and echo will lead to unnecessary failures; it is also likely to cause out-of-sync issues due to the distance between the speaker of the device under test and camera microphone.
  • The camera should be tested upfront that it can capture audio and video in sync - the following slides detail the procedure to do this. (see How-to-test-camera-can-record-in-sync)

How to record audio from DUT

  • DUT has an audio output: Use 3.5mm audio cable to connect DUT to a camera mic input.

audio-cable

  • DUT has NO audio output:
    • can be recorded via HDMI ARC: HDMI ARC Audio TV Adapter is required together with an HDMI cable connected with a DUT and 3.5mm audio cable which connects to a camera mic input.
