This is mostly a non-issue, but the trademark policy draft recently announced by the Rust Foundation contains clauses that would make our logo non-compliant. The logo contains modified version of the official logo that are both resized and recolored.

For the record I don't think we should do anything about it yet, but I'm basically making this issue to

  1. Acknowledge that we are aware of this fact.
  2. Serve as a reminder that we might have to make a decision regarding the logo in the future.

Perhaps the logo modification clauses will be dropped, or perhaps the foundation will provide colorized versions of the logo that we could use, or we could even completely change the logo.

My understanding is that the even if the current draft went into force, you would need just to send an email to the foundation asking for permission to use the Rust logo in your logo. Or at least that's what I gather from this comment by Sage Griffin in /r/rust
