How to handle attendee signups disappearing

Organisers from multiple chapters have reported that they have had attendees turn up who are not on the list but who have emails confirming that they have been moved off the waiting list and onto the attending list. There is an as yet unidentified problem where it seems that people are sometimes being removed completely when being transitioned off the waiting list.

This situation is confusing for all parties and is also disruptive to organisers as they now have to handle "extra" attendees.

I think it would be worth tackling this from two directions:

• Extra logging for visibility (whether that be for organisers or developers)
• Approach to handling the affected people who either show up or contact us via email.
