Explain what happens

Cockpit presents the system as up-to-date, fully updated, even when there are problems in gathering update information that prevent the system from knowing if there are updates available.

User / Administrator will not get informed about the updates for this system and thus might never discover the underlying problem exists.

I discovered this condition while having problem with receiving updates via OStree. Ticket: #11588 FUTURE Cryptographic policy blocks rpm-ostree update in the fedora-infrastructure tracker.

I'm connecting from Fedora Workstation to Fedora IoT on server using the desktop version of cockpit (which interestingly does not provide version in About screen).

Version of Cockpit

303

Where is the problem in Cockpit?

Overview

Server operating system

Fedora

Server operating system version

38 IoT

What browsers are you using?

Cockpit Client / Cockpit Desktop

System log

No response

This belongs to cockpit-ostree, as it's an rpm-ostree install. Do you still have that problem with current version?
