packages.config upgrade

Hi,

Let's say you have a packages.config file with 20 packages. That installs software correctly. Then after 3 years you want to upgrade everything. What is the most efficient method?

1. Add an --ignore-versions flag to "choco install", that can apply the same packages.config but uses the latest versions. Install. Then export a new packages.config.

or

2. Edit packages.config with the sed command, or similar. Remove version specifiers. Install. Export a new packages.config

Other ideas? Is 2. the only choice currently? Should 1. be implemented?

Now maybe I'm answering my own question:

Option 3: Install the out-of-date packages.config . Then run choco upgrade all. Then export a new packages.config, which will have newer versions.

I really didn't investigate this topic before posting. :-) The whole thread should be deleted.

Option 4: Run choco install without --include-version-numbers to get a packages.config without version numbers. When upgrading on a new machine, run that (packages.config without version numbers), and it will install new versions, since it's not locked to any version numbers.

The next problem that seems to still exist and still be an issue - the absence of package-parameters in the export.
