#1249 added OpenSSL 1.0.1w, which Chef Software has under a support contract. However, the URL is just publicly accessible and there is no indication whether or not that causes any issues for non-Chef projects. The OpenSSL license seems to be OK with it, but I don't know if it's actually intentional that this is public (and thus other Omnibus projects are OK to use this) or if it's meant to be used for Chef ecosystem projects only.
It would be helpful if the terms of use of the support contract-derived source were clarified in a comment in openssl.rb so third parties could make informed decisions about whether or not to use that version.
