turtle peripherals

would it be possible to add a third slot to turtles for "top" modems, chunk loaders, speakers etc?

i feel the bottom and back occupied make sense but the top should be accessible by a limited "peripheral only" slot that can't take a tool.

I'm afraid this is something unlikely to change. I think the current limit of two is about right — you can get the turtle to do "more" by swapping upgrades with turtle.equip{Left,Right}, but it forces you to make compromises, which IMO is interesting.

while I do see your point, and have tried to work around it for a long time. I feel like having the configuration option there for those who have a different opinion is beneficial as it is very hard for a wireless mining turtle to receive input while it is also chunkloading. again, I agree with the vanilla balances like the fuel requirements, and the lack of tool slots being a balance. but I (personally) believe that the turtle's should have an option to "equip" the wireless/ender modems(only the modems) to "top" like a little hat just putting it out there since I know I'm not the only one who would like to run "chunky wireless mining" turtles and reserve the network for more mining turtles rather than having to use clock cycles to communicate to a second turtle about chunk updating... who tends to get lost without a pickaxe...

I figured there would be a mod for it because I can't be the only one annoyed by it in creative worlds.

but, as a survival player as well, I do appreciate the balance.

I get what the dev is saying, I'm just saying it would be nice to see some additional config options for those with.... other "ideals"
