Especially in online workshops, provision of lesson materials in advance of a workshop may hinder accessibility problems and the benefit could be larger than the risk that learners lose focus to follow the live coding or exercises in the workshop.

It might be a good idea to include this in the guideline for instructors.

The second Online Workshops bonus module for Instructor Training recommends sharing lesson material with learners before/during the workshop, as a way to help people whose connection might drop out or who need to step away from their screen for some part of the event. The same recommendation is also made in the Recommendations for Teaching Carpentries Workshops Online.

I wonder if we can add a note in the Bonus Module about the potential accessibility benefits of doing so as well, @karenword @klbarnes20? And/or perhaps a sentence can be added to the Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility episode of the updated Instructor Training curriculum?
