What happened?

Installer is just a blank window for around 60 seconds. If connected to the Internet then the blank white window only lasts about 10 seconds, which is also a bug but less severe.

What was expected?

Installer window has contents.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Find a machine not connected to the Internet.
  2. Boot the Ubuntu iso.

Additional context

This seems to have been happening for a few weeks at least. Confirmed again today in Noble 20240229.

I'm going to mark this as critical because it will cause too many people to give up on trying to install Ubuntu.

Oh apparently this project is deprecated. Replaced by https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-desktop-provision which directs you to report bugs on Launchpad. So --> https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-desktop-installer/+bug/2056160
