I would like to replace the temporary hard-coded notifications with a dynamic notification system that can handle real-time updates in the notification component of codelabz.

One alternative could be to develop a more robust mock notification system that simulates dynamic notifications while the full implementation is in progress. However, transitioning directly to a real-time, backend-driven notification system would be more efficient and future-proof.
