Group entities

This might be a dumb question but is it possible to group all the power sensors in an area together? Even those that come from a device that reports power consumption?

You are using the following option right?

sensor:
  - platform: powercalc
    create_group: Outdoor
    include:
      area: outdoor

Currently, that will only scan your Home Assistant installation for entities which powercalc can create virtual power sensors for.
It will not include existing power sensors (for example of existing smart plugs).
Maybe I will extend this behaviour in the future.

You should be able to add extra entities like this:

sensor:
  - platform: powercalc
    create_group: Outdoor
    include:
      area: outdoor
    entities:
      - entity_id: sensor.dummy
        power_sensor_id: sensor.existing_power

entity_id is still needed because it is mandatory. I will change this in the future. You can set that to sensor.dummy.

The error you are getting is strange. You should not get this error when you are using the include option.
Can you share your full configuration?

Thank you for the quick and detailed response. I was not using the include: so I added it and that has fixed the issue with the devices that have existing power sensors. When adding the include though it is no longer adding the powercalc sensors. Here is what I am in my sensers.yaml file:

I am not sure what you mean. You are saying for "Primary Bedroom" there are no powercalc sensors created and it was before you added include:? What configuration did you have before?

Let me include the entire configuration. The way I understand how the include: to work is it will include all the powercalc sensors that are in the "Primary Bedroom" Home Assistant area. When I set the configuration as it is above it added the "real" sensors but the powercalc ones didn't get added. So, to fix it I just manually added the entries.
