Show selected layer in drop down of all layers

On mobile it is tricky to see what layer you have selected.

I often find myself trying to click on a layer that is already active and forgetting what year I am looking at.

What if there was some texture in the menu, maybe a sense of depth as if the active layer was "clicked," to indicate which layer is active, as in the screenshot below?
