cloudwatch get_metric_data() empty data

can someone help to understand what is wrong and why get_metric_data() doesn't return data while get_metric_statistics() does return it?

Figured out, there was a problem with some settings on the aws account, as it is under company aws org, had limited visibility into set up. Some IAM perms

I'm also facing similar kind of issue. I'm getting empty list for the values. Could you please tell what exactly this settings change was?
