BuddyPress 1.8 and the new Theme Compat support from 1.7!?

Any plans on updating your skeleton component!?
Its really a good starting point but I don't get it running with new versions of BuddyPress and a WP Theme that does not support BuddyPress.

Thanks for the ping! It'd be great to find the time to update the
component, but it's probably not going to happen in the very near term.
If you find stopgap fixes that get it minimally running for latest BP,
please feel free to send a pull request.

I've added branch 1.7 to this repo to bring support for BP Theme Compat.
