Our primary front door leads into a closet. So. I'd like to knock it out and use the space as part of the living room. It should be made to feel like an entrance but work with the rest of the [living] room.

  • The closet has a lower ceiling than the living room. Why? (Is this where the squirrels hang out?)
  • There is electricity ran in the main wall to be knocked down.
  • Flooring (wood) pattern may be disrupted
  • We'll need an entrance light fixture

Half way there. While the closet wall studs are not load bearing, the drop ceiling relies on them for support. We don't want a drop ceiling at all, but that requires a major gutting-out of the first floor. Unsure how to box-in this project for now...

Entrance has been drywalled. Still needs one last layer or so before final feathering. Did not run a power line for the overhead line. Will regret this decision later!
