Implementing Novation LaunchKey Midi Capture

Would be great if the midi capture button functioned like it does in ableton.

e.g.

• press play
• jam along with a song on the keyboard
• press stop
• press capture midi (inserts clip with captured midi data on the currently selected track)

I tried to implement this but I can only find an API that inserts notes on grid steps but what I need is to be able to insert notes at the position they are played. We would also need ability to set which take the note should be created on when looping.
