I am in the process of reorganizing DNA extraction archive plates - moving barcode DNA tubes to a new plate configuration so that we can make a new working stock of cherry-picked templates.

To track this in LIMS, I scan the 2D barcodes of the new plate configuration. I then create a new extraction plate in LIMS. Using the "Bulk Edit" feature, I retrieve the new configuration of scanned extraction barcodes from a text file, then select "retrieve extractions from barcodes" to pull all the metadata into the new plate. LIMS prompts me to decided whether to move the extractions or create aliquots, and I select "move extractions" since I have made a new plate with the original tubes. I can name this plate and save it in LIMS.

Upon save, however, the new plate loses the extraction barcodes. When I search the new plate, all the tubes have been moved to the new plate as expected, but when you view the metadata, the extraction barcodes are missing. I have to re-add the extraction barcodes to this plate and save again. This has happened to me the last three times I have created a new plate and moved extractions to it.
