width/maxWidth on column has no effect on horizontally scrolled tables

Setting a maxWidth on a table seems to have no impact on a table that overflows horizontally.

The only way I could get something similar is by manually setting the header to display block with overflow-wrap. I think the same will need to be applied to all the row tds for that column too:
