Is this gem still maintained?

It looks like there hasn't been a commit since 2016 or a gem release since 2015 and there's been little movement on #38.

Is there anything the community can do to help the maintainers?

I'm so sorry...

I've been too busy on other projects not depending on this module, whereas this is definitely worth being continued. Hereby i promise faithfully to resume effort very soonish. (yes, i said this before...)

I'm gonna take some time tomorrow evening, start with going over any of the PRs and merge as much as possible in order to prepare a new release. Then i will have a look at the issues, add appropriate labels, separate bugs from features, find out if there's something which has been fixed already etc.

If nothing happens, please feel free to remind me every other day...

Besides attending to any of the open issues, i think that the most valuable thing would be to implement proper unit tests. Once the requirements have been set into reliable specs, maintaining this gem will get way easier or rather even possible. Therefore, i just created an issue #42 and added a help wanted label.
