Autoupdate App

Need to implement autoupdate for the App.

So my options are:

• NetSparkle (https://www.nuget.org/packages/NetSparkleUpdater.UI.Avalonia/2.0.0-preview20200426001)

  • It's annoying that it expects an installer. And more so much worse as a whole separate app needs to be written just to copy downloaded files: I want to update some dynamic link libraries. What should I do? NetSparkleUpdater/NetSparkle#54.
  • I have to override RunDownloadedInstaller to run my updater console app.
  • Write in file location of downloaded file(s) and extract each, delete zips once done close and restart Irony
  • Plugin handling can be handled as such Multiple Hosts for AppCast file NetSparkleUpdater/NetSparkle#56
  • Make separate UI for updater due to localization not being available or not compatible with what I use Localization support NetSparkleUpdater/NetSparkle#92

• AutoUpdater (https://github.com/ravibpatel/AutoUpdater.NET/blob/master/README.md)
  Can unzip itself but need to investigate if plugins are supported. As well it seems that handling multiple OS might be a problem or require some more overhead code.

It's apparent I'll probably go with NetSparkle as it will require probably less work, for AutoUpdater I'd need to make a separate UI too so...

Will need to set chmod permissions on the downloaded updater process for linux, osx. Some references:

Also once files are copied probably need to set chmod in the install directory...

Aside from this will need to have 2 appcasts one for stable and one for unstable channel. In the options users will select whether they'll want to check for updates in the stable or unstable channel. Aside from that also need to override appcastxml behavior so that I can take into account whether the user used portable or installer version.
