Rock pi S with its audio capabilities should be a good target for balena os. Given that rock pi 4 is already supported, it might not be a big undertaking especially for developers who worked on support for rock pi 4. I have recently ordered one for personal use. I can help out a bit in my free time but I don't think I can get it done alone.

Hi, we encourage you to have a go and submit a PR. We will review it and point out if there are any changes needed.
Wanna give it a shot?

I looked at the balena-rockpi. It is very sparse on comments. I will try. I might end up raising frequent PR updates just to ensure that I don't go in wrong direction. I have never touched rockpi on yocto platform.

You may get additional info from this guide: https://github.com/balena-os/meta-balena/blob/update_contribution_guide/contributing-device-support.md
Even if you will be PRing in an existing repository it is still useful for you to look in the device contribution guide

@pritamghanghas we are also working on rockpis and it will be great to have support for balena as well. We don't have anyone working on yocto. But we can test it.
