Is it possible to pass tuple parameters to redshift.read_sql_query?

I'm trying to query a table in redshift using the read_sql_query method for multiple values in a column. The "params" parameter doesn't seem to accept the python tuple. In my example below, I want to return values where column_1 is in (1,2)

tuple_param = (1,2)
sql = """Select * from table
where column_1 in %s"""
df = wr.redshift.read_sql_query(sql=sql, con=redshift_con,safe=True,params=[tuple_param])

this throws the error:

    params.append(self.inspect_funcs[typ](value))
KeyError: <class 'numpy.int64'>

What is the correct way to pass a python tuple to the "params" method (assuming this is possible)?
