Enhancement Request

Explain your enhancement (please be detailed)

At present it's not possible to register custom sortable columns like in other tables (Discounts, Orders/Payments, etc). For some reason the customer table does not support this and it would be useful to have for when adding numeric column data.

Justification or use case

Third-party plugin development.
