This will try to cache and load subtitles from provided direct links for the EU region if the inject subtitle option is enabled (default). If it works for the selected media you will have 2 sets of subtitles in subtitle selection first the cached ones (marked as External) and the internal ones (that sometimes glitch and disappear) the internal ones will act as a fallback this way.
If inject subtitles are disabled in options only internal ones will be used if available.
For the Nordic/Spain region where internal subtitles don't exist anyway, nothing changed the subtitles will get cached from provided direct links and loaded as usual.
