Issue Overview

The github ci.yml still has a build of the project using JDK8. This is failing for newer dependencies like this #659 PR to update mockito to 5.x from 4.x. We don't do integration testing with JDK8, so we should think about dropping JDK8 to enable dependencies to continue to update.
