Bad Ending - Ride off with Kazuma - Fails at Credits

First off I want to thank you for all your amazing work. The mere fact that this exists, never mind how complete it is, is nothing short of a miracle, and I have been having a total blast playing this through.

What happened
After you choose to escape with Kazuma it will play the animation where you get on the dragon and fly off into the clouds. The text appears what happens next, and you briefly see a "The End" before the screen flickers to a black screen. You hear new music, and you can here you character move around, shoot, and change weapons. Almost reminds me of some kind of crash.

Expected behavior
It has been a while since I last played this, but I'm pretty sure there was suppose to be an end credit sequence, basic one with just a black background, and will take you to the title screen.

What console (and flash cart) or emulator are you using?
Mega Everdrive Pro (latest model) on a Sega Genesis Model 2

Sounds like maybe the script goes on to run whatever random commands came after the end instead of stopping after the screen showed. Not sure how I managed to break that one

Just looking at the cave story wiki, and I guess I remembered wrong, there are no credits at all. Just says, "the end" on a black screen. Still it kinda breaks once "the end" appears and also it's part of the previous text scroll in this case.
