Comments in highlighted sections are stripped

I tried to highlight a section of code containing some comments, but they were stripped. Here's a patch to reproduce the issue in the HTML tests:

• download the patch
• apply the patch: git apply /path/to/highlighted-comment.patch
• run the tests
