Simple macOS Bash scripts failing / timeout

I have a simple bash script that returns the current logged-in username:

#!/bin/bash
user=$( scutil <<< "show State:/Users/ConsoleUser" | awk '/Name :/ && ! /loginwindow/ { print $3 }' )
echo $user

I've tested it on various Macs including my own and it always times out. I presume the agent is running as system / root user? If so then there should be no problem running it.

Why is it failing?

Problem solved - I have to use:

sudo su

after the #!/bin/bash
