It would be good to have documentation of the source of the NC and WA data. The way I know is to add a R/ directory and document in roxygen, even though this is not a R pacakge.
That would give the compilers credit, and analysts can then go and extend / cross-check it.
For example, I was wondering how easy it was to add Census / Voterfile race data to the NC shapefile.
