Hi

I moved to Thunderbird 78 to try and solve an encryption problem, only to give myself another larger problem - most of my add-ons don't work.

Please could you look at updating this one? I use it a lot.

Thank you
Paul

Hi! This is high on my list of things I want to accomplish in my spare time. The complication is that Thunderbird 78 uses a completely different set of add-on APIs than Archive This was written against, so I'm looking at a ground-up rewrite rather than simply fixing those things that broke (which is what previous versions of Thunderbird sometimes required). So this is definitely on my to-do list (I'm as avid a user of the add-on as anyone else), but given the size of the task, I'm not sure what the timeframe might be.

Very very very very very useful add-on that I am using every minute to automatically put mails in specific directories.
Unfortunately I cannot help you in programming but thank you if an update to TB 78 is possible !

Hi @adamroach : I've noticed that the change is huge. Do you think that someone could contribute to this effort if you direct them? Could we try to attract developers with a bounty, or that doesn't make sense?

I've been thinking more about email again lately! I'm also sadly lacking much time to investigate the dev side of this. So my company might be up for contributing towards a small bounty, if anyone's pondering working on the port needed to regain compat with new versions?

The developer time to do this work seems to be lacking?

It's worth noting that Thunderbird now natively allows mail rules that take effect when archiving mail. I've been using this for a while. It's been long enough that I don't really recall what the differences in functionality were.

Perhaps there should be some reassessment of the scope of this plugin.

  • Are Thunderbird's message filters a complete substitute for Archive This's rules.
  • If auto-archiving is removed, is there energy for resurrecting the remaining features?
  • Perhaps this plugin or an associated tool should provide a mechanism for taking archiving rules in Archive This and converting them to native Thunderbird message filters?
