I'd like to be able to add an .ics file (exported from .org) without having to either (a) put it on a publically-accessible webserver (which could provide a path for Google Calendar to import the file) or (b) manually upload changed versions to Google Calendar. And, more generally, for privacy-purposes, it would be nice to be able to add calendar files without having to hand them over to Google.
I see that you mention considering an option to add a local .ics in read-only mode in connection to another issue (#12 ) and that would be exactly what I'm thinking about.

i would be interested in the same, i think, but not read-only - i'm wanting to have a local calendar that i can use to create events via the Event Calendar widget
i don't know if this fits with this plasmoid or if it should be a separate project - i know there's something similar for Android, Offline Calendar - is that perhaps adaptable?
