shared folders from outside in briefcase remain empty

When using shared mailbox, the folders made in briefcase of the shared accounts are also displayed in briefcase. Folders shared from outside remain empty, only the content of the shared accounts' own folders is usable.
Is there a setting to make the contents of the externally shared folders visible and usable as well? Thanks!
