How to display custom fields? #3

Hi! Thanks a lot for making this available in EE5.

Im having troubles displaying custom fields associated with the channel, it seems to return only the default ones, and adding "fields=" doesn't seem to help.

Any idea on how to get around this?

I released the reworked version: v2.5.1 JSON Output for EE4, EE5 & EE6

Give it a try and let me know whether it works fine or not.

I've just setup a local EE5.4.0 server and I see it doesn't work indeed.
I must've mixed up something somewhere. I'll try to figure out what and get back to you as soon as I can.
Can't tell you when though, doing tis in my spare time :)

Hi,
Any idea how we should fix the issue of custom field? i have tried to use 2.0 as well as 3.0 on EE 5.2.2 without luck!, i would appreciate a fix if possible...

Hi paultz,

First of all, my apologies for the late reaction. Life got in the way :)

The last days I have been working on resolving the issues. It turns out the plugin did not work with EE versions that were upgraded from EE2 or EE3 because of the database changes involving new custom fields and legacy custom fields. It only worked on new setups from EE4+.

I think I found the solution and made it compatible with EE4 and up. I tested it on a upgraded EE4 setup and it picked up the legacy custom fields just fine. I also ran it on a new EE6 version without legacy custom fields.

At the moment I'm finetuning some things. Would you be interested in testing this new version?

I have tested on Expression Engine 6.2.3, in one channel with standard fields its working fine and with second channel with Grid field is giving below error, see attached! my code is {exp:json:entries channel="ambassadors" custom_fields="yes" limit="2"}

That's causing the error. My code is apparently not compatible with that add-on. I suspect it won't be compatible with Matrix, Playa and Channel Files add-ons either.

Like I stated in the readme I do not own any of these add-ons, so I cannot test my code on them.

There is legacy code for those add-ons in the JSON plugin, but that legacy code hasn't seen an update since November 2018.

I maintain this plugin in my free time (when I have it) and keep it available for free. I do not make any money on it. To make it compatible with aforementioned add-ons I'd have to fork out close to $300... and I'm not quite prepared to do that. I'm sorry.
