As for AdGuard Home, warn the user before installation that the package is altering the Dnsmasq configuration
For instance this pihole package totally disables Dnsmasq, while AGH only deactivate it for the main network interface but localhost

...I wish I had read this before installing it, and then being unable to make it work, and then uninstalling it.

Any ideas for how to restore DNSmasq? I did like yunohost.local resolving on the local network

removed 2 files from /etc/dnsmasq.d/
01-pihole.conf (may have been fine to leave)
02-pihole-dhcp.conf (for sure an issue; referenced a directory for leases, and that is what caused the DNSmasq refusal to start)

now DNSmasq works.
