Just to confirm that I am experiencing this issue also. The moving map freezes making it impossible to use. Also, the VNAV computations appear to freeze also. |
I'm fliying the TBM 930. In my experience, the MFD map quits updating after about 400-500 miles into a 900-mile trip. This is regardless of whether I use timewarp or not. If I switch the MFD display away from the map and then back to map, the map updates to that instant in time but remains frozen. I normally have the inset map in the PFD set to traffic so there's been no terrain/flightplan map active on the PFD this whole time. About the time I begin my STAR or approach, I change the PFD inset map from traffic to map. The map is active and moves with the plane even though the MFD map remains frozen. This usually lasts me the rest of the 900nm-ish flight but not always. And when the inset PFD map also freezes up, it also freezes the altitude and speed tapes of the PFD. HOWEVER, the synthetic vision display in the PFD still works, and the standby instrument above the PFD showing altitude and speed also still works. So, when doing an ILS approach, for example, I have no map and the the only thing working on the PFD is the moving synthetic vision, which shows paved runways. The glideslope bug is as frozen as the IAS and altimeter on the PFD. So, I must eyeball the glideslope using synthetic vision on the PFD while using the standby instrument above to manage speed and altitude, all without benefit of a glideslope bug. All good fun but rather annoying.. Such landings would actually be easier with steam gauges. |
Update on this freezing of the MFD and PFD inset maps.... When the MFD map freezes, it also freezes the magenta text across the top edge, such as ETE, GS, DST, etc. This is similar to how when the PFD inset map freezes, it also freezes the speed and altitude tapes of the PFD, and the box showing the next waypoint and the countdown of distance to it. I have found a way to unfreeze the MFD map, although it freezes up again quicker than it did the 1st time. If you change the display to weather radar, and actually turn on the radar or change its settings, then go back to the map, the map and top line magenta text will update to the current position and will not be frozen. |
Thanks for the work-around.

For a solution that might be more permanent: I've seen some folks in discord report that disabling the custom VFR map on the pop out panel also prevents this issue as well . YMMV. Change the text in the file Wtg3000.cfg located at /path/to/community/workingtitle-g3000/html_ui/ to read as follows:

Thanks, appreciate the input.

Change the text in the file Wtg3000.cfg located at /path/to/community/workingtitle-g3000/html_ui/ to read as follows:
[VFRMAP]
useCustom = false # Enable the custom VFR map when flying in the TBM930 or Longitude.

@Russ048 thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try in a few days, next chance I get to fly. Sorry to see the custom map go, however, as it's SO MUCH better than the stock one. |
OK, I have now flown 3x ~900-mile hops in the TBM with the custom VFR map disabled. Since disabling the custom VFR map, I have had zero freezes of the MFD and PFD inset maps and their associated important things, So yay, that cured the problem. It also weaned me off using the VFR map at all and relying more on zooming the MFD map :) |
I'm having the same success. Thanks for sharing.

freezing still an issue |
Did you try the fix discussed above? |
Yes, I disabled the custom VFR map and no more display freezes. |
MFD (moving map) freezes shortly after entering en route phase of ifr flight plan. Have to use VFR Map to track progress. This happens with Cessna Longitude Mod v1.95 and FS stock versions. Hope this can be resolved as I really like the G3000 mod. Thanks
