Many JetBrains IDEs require a license to access (e.g. IntelliJ Ultimate, GoLand, CLion). University students are eligible for a free educational license which they can apply for using their @bristol.ac.uk
email address. This license will last one year but can be extended yearly so long as the student still has access to a university email account.
- Apply for an educational license via this form, making sure to use your
@bristol.ac.uk
email address. - Wait for an email confirming that the application has been accepted
- In the confirmation email from JetBrains, click the link to finish activation.
- Follow the instructions on the page to finish setting up an account.
- A JetBrains license is now associated with your account!
- Download and install the specific JetBrains IDE which requires a license.
- Open the JetBrains IDE.
- If a license is required then 'Licenses' window will appear.
- Select
Activate {IDE Name}
. - Under
Get license from
selectJB Account
. - Click
Log In to JetBrains Account...
. - A JetBrains login page should open in a browser window.
- After logging in close the browser window and return to the IDE.
- The license is now active and will grant full access to the IDE!
