Unable to open app -- "An instance for this download location is already running!"

Expected Behaviour

App would open when launched as normal

Actual Behaviour

The application refuses to launch with an error "An instance for this download location is already running!" Deleting the appdata folder will allow the app to open normally with a blank profile, I am hoping there's a way to correct this issue without starting from scratch. I do not have a recent copy of my blogs list to import.

A lock file running.lock is kept in the main download location while the app is running to prevent multiple instances from accessing the same blog files.
Check in Task Manager that no instance is running and delete this file, then the app should start normally again.
