Accessing an encrypted /data partition is currently broken with the error in the title. The whole error message is

Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer.
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
Unable to recreate /data/media folder.
Updating partition details...
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
...done
Unable to mount storage
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
Full SELinux support is present.
Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps
MTP Enabled

I'm running TWRP 3.2.1-0 for the Motorola Athene. My device is a moto g4. (i.e. not a moto g4 plus or a moto g4 play. Just a moto g4.) My OS is LineageOS 14.1-20180219-NIGHTLY-athene (android 7.1.2, kernel 3.10.107-lineageOS).

What other information would you like?

If you look at the commits, the fix for this was merged Jan 2nd. Unfortunately, the most recent release of TWRP was in December, so we're up shit's creek without a paddle short of building it ourselves, which I'm about to try my hand at.

Here's a step-by-step guide I found, if you wanna try your hand at it too. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-how-to-compile-twrp-source-step-t3404024
That guide is rather out of date... Let me know if you find a better one.

Edit: @ewtoombs Just found https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-2-r3-moto-g4-g4-plus-t3494337
Built recently.

@Ashaman- The version you just posted is actually older than the current version.
