Trap Ideas!

Why

  • To annoy the living hell out of BRC players.
  • Make the BRC AP world fun/interesting.
  • "Bees".

How does it trigger/work?

  • When someone in the AP instance pulls the trap, the effected BRC AP world will experience one, some, or multiple effects:
    • Score decreases by X amount
    • Score drops to 0
    • Combo decrease by X amount
    • Combo drops to 0
    • 6 Star Heat
    • Boost decreases by X amount
    • Boost drops to 0

Note

  • I have not looked into reverse engineering the game yet, so this is just something that popped up after hearing 0.5.0 came out.

I did think about having trap items but didn't feel like I could come up with anything actually worth adding.

Most of the ideas that you listed were the same things I had thought of, but all of them have the problem of being very easy to either recover from, avoid, or ignore completely. The score and combo effects really only matter if you happen to be doing a score encounter at that exact moment, the police are usually not that hard to just avoid even if there isn't a bathroom nearby to go to, and it's not very hard to refill your boost meter.

With that said though, I'm not at all against the idea of BRC having trap items. It's just very hard to think of any worthwhile trap effects for this game in my opinion.

By comparison other games don't have great traps either, like how The Witness just had a temporary walkspeed slowdown trap, and a "power surge" trap that made it impossible to solve any puzzle panels for about 15 seconds.

I feel like some way of slowing down or negatively altering the player's movement could be effective. Something like, forcibly being chained 5 times to a turret, having extra heavy gravity for a bit, or maybe all turret chain speeds go really fast so it's impossible to escape them just by moving around.
