Thoughts on having a conventional commit message standard?

I'm not opposed. I don't have much experience here, so everything's pretty touch-and-go for me and I can see that my own branch names and commit messages are a bit of a mess. Some kind of convention would help

I've historically not liked those standards for personal stylistic reasons, but I wouldn't oppose it if @verndrade was up for it.
