DepotDownloader not installing game files correctly

What did you expect to happen?

I expected the application to install the build correctly while logged into an account that has a copy of the game

Instead of that, what actually happened?

(i dont know if this is me just being stupid) but instead it downloaded no files, and at the end of the installation it said '(0 bytes uncompressed)', im guessing no files got installed because there was no depots folder at the time of installation. again i dont know if this is me being stupid, but i have used this application alot and this is the first time im seeing this stuff occur.

download completes in ~6 seconds (the normal download time is ~4 mins)
