Using e.g. fedora coreos, it should be rather easy to create ready made images containing essy and all required dependencies.

This should allow a less technical user to use essy without much hassle.
E.g.:

  • Upload to VPS provider
  • Boot
  • Very basic setup wizard
  • Configure essy as normal

Sounds good, my mind goes to a Linux Distro ISO + packaged cloudinit config that configures everything, since then it's barely any bigger than a minimum installation, and will download everything at boot ^^

The big advantage of CoreOS is that It's designed to do updates and such itself, with minimal interaction required to keep it secure.

I thought CoreOS was deprecated? or am I thinking of something else?

If it is not deprecated, then that'd be a pretty good candidate for a "just make a VM with this image" kind of thingie :3

I thought CoreOS was deprecated

Yeah, original CoreOS was deprecated, but basically directly continued in Fedora CoreOS

(i just forgot to add the fedora in front of the CoreOS)
