I'm playing a 9x9 grid on a Realme 7 which was running Android 10 but has upgraded itself to Android 11 without affecting the phenomenon.
I'm finding that the right-hand half of the right-hand column is insensitive & doesn't always acknowledge my taps, the left-hand half of the right-hand column & the rest of the board are behaving as expected.
Sometimes it does work though.
I've just tried 12x12 & 6x6 & they're fine
It's taken me a while to realize it's real & not me being clutzy so I have no idea when it started or what the changes were, sorry.

I think I've found the problem – my device displays a pull-out menu which conflicts with the problematic squares. This is a feature of Oppo's ColorOS but will be very similar to things others will install so should be considered.
Is there any way you could offer a width adjustment for the game-field, please? This would have to be a per-installation adjustment so would need an entry in settings
