To improve the ability of SORMAS to store doctor declarations comign from other systems, a new feature needs to be added to the system. This is currently relevant for the implementation of SORMAS in Luxembourg, but is also useful for every other countr yusing SORMAS.
Use cases
High-Level Explanation
Two notification sources can provide data to the SORMAS system:
The notification form (online or paper) from the health personnel (medical doctors), and the laboratory data in E-Santé.
The MD notify the DIS through MyGuichet or via fax (in the latter case the form will be entered in MyGuichet by one of the DIS Inspecteur). The two forms are slightly different.
Currently, the notification form is only readable as a PDF file and discussion is ongoing with CTIE regarding the future evolution and the possibility of having structured and more readable information.
Besides, in the future the information collected by the survey (triggered by a notification) will be included in the SORMAS database (this has been considered during the preliminary meetings in particular for the symptoms set).
Apart from administrative data (name, first name, date of birth, address, national ID, etc.), the data sets of the two notification forms contain different and complementary information.
In theory, both forms will enter the SORMAS system for the same case, however some situations are to be considered:
• Only the laboratory is notifying (a confirmed case): the surveillance team is requiring the notification from the MD
• Only the health staff is notifying (suspect/confirmed cases)
• Both notifications are made, but one is delayed
Besides, several laboratory forms could be issued, if several diagnosis methods are used at different times for the same case.
After acquiring information from one of the two sources, a new case is created in SORMAS, if it does not already exist.
General or administrative data, (i.e. phones, addresses, names, birthdates) for the case, the health personnel or the laboratory issuing the notification are similar for all diseases feeding the system from E-Santé / My Guichet.
