There has come to my attention that there are groups that are interested in holding weekly events in the lab. AI discussions and Code Crafting for example. It would benefit the lab and discord server if the groups' discussions are accessible for everyone to see. This will also make the discord more active and create value for everyone.

Right now there is a small dilemma on how to manage these dedicated channels. The groups are dynamic after all and their communication should be contained within their bubble. What will happen if the group disbands? Should the text channel be kept, archived or deleted? Should they only have a dedicated thread instead, which disables them from creating more threads if they want that feature?

There are two ways of going with this:

  • Create a dedicated category for hobby/group text channels, and archive/delete them when seen fit.
  • Create a channel where people can find hobby/group threads and join them from there, like a hub for all activities.
