WHY TF IS THERE A 152GB FILE FROM AWE

i was on my server and wanted to copy a world where i was making maps and it told me the folder was 153GB big. after looking throught the files i found 2 files in the AWE folder named ts.181b446f40a.363cd96c.0 (152GB) and ts.181b446f40a.363cd96c.0.idx (1GB). Why does the plugin make sutch big plugins? the server is a 1.8 papermc server running on java 8.
