Perfectly playable in Japanese, unplayable in English.

Saving problem: This game includes an update that allows you to play with the DLC. The DLC is an English patch for the game. When the game is in Japanese mode (with update and no DLC, or with DLC without update, or with update and DLC (set to Japanese mode)), you can save (see 2nd attached photo). When the game is in English mode (DLC + (mandatory) update + set to English mode), the game saves indefinitely (see 1st attached photo) and ultimately doesn't save, making it unplayable. Apart from the save problem, the English patch works and has been installed correctly (see 3rd attached photo), the only problem being the save function. Game save data is not transferable between Japanese and English modes, so playing in English and saving in Japanese is impossible.
