As I understand it, rsync was conceived as a means of synchronizing two different files or folders. However, from a backup point of view, we could store information about the state of the tree (List of files, hashes, etc., whatever rsync checks each time) in some file on the destination host and use it the next time incremental copy is run. Is it possible?
