Hi all. Thank you for your interest in the kvrocks community. Recently, many students have come to inquire about summer-ospp-related questions. Here, we will provide some unified answers.

Background

kvrocks-operator is a project donated by Boss-Zhipin to the kvrocks community. This project is a rewrite of the Redis operator they previously used, and the internal version already meets the production needs of Boss-Zhipin's kvrocks deployment.

However, for other users who have cloud deployment requirements, the existing kvrocks-operator is not user-friendly enough. It cannot be used out of the box, and there are many aspects that need improvement. From the perspective of an open-source project, it is still in its early stages and has not even released its first official release. The community's plan is to refactor kvrocks-operator according to the standards of the Apache project. After iterating through several versions and having 3-5 users validate its usage in production, kvrocks-operator will be moved from RocksLab to Apache as a subsidiary project of kvrocks.

Summer-ospp

Since summer-ospp only allows one student to officially sign up, with clear tasks and deadlines, we have chosen a student @jiayouxujin who has previously participated in the kvrocks community and has relevant experience in cloud-native domains . If you were not selected, it does not mean you are not outstanding. The main reason is that we do not have enough knowledge about you. We welcome anyone to raise issues or submit pull requests. If you don't mind the bonus, students who were not selected can still participate in various projects within the community and grow together with the kvrocks community.

Others

We also welcome participation in other projects within the community ecosystem, such as kvrocks-controller and kvrocks-exporter. In the future, they will also be included in Apache as subsidiary projects of kvrocks.

Contact us

In addition to using issues or email, we often use Slack for communication.
