Provide an alternative simple mode where package groups and/or meta packages are used for desktop environments instead of individual packages. This can solve two problems:

  • The package groups and meta packages are almost immune to Arch Linux's package name changes, hence keeping the installer robust and functioning.
  • Users who do not want to dive deep into customization of the packages to be installed, can enjoy the simplicity of selecting curated groups of packages
